Registration for the national May-June event
How can one participate in the national event?
Simply engage with 3 of your colleagues and get the team registered before April 30th.
There are no costs for the individual teams, there is no minimum distance, and parts of the journey can be done using public transport.
There is even an opening for non-bikers: One member per team can participate as a pedestrian, skateboarder or using whichever other mean of transport that does not depend on an engine.
1) Put together a team of 4
Find other 3 colleagues who are interested in joining the event. The team has be to composed of 4 persons: 3 bikers at least, and one member can be a non-biker (like pedestrian, runner, inline-skater, skateboarder etc.) using a transport mean that does not depend on an engine.
2) Choose a team leader
One of your team members must be the team leader. He will register the team and be the contact for all future communication.
3) Find a name for your team
Choose a nice, funny, meaningful, senseless or whatever name for your team. Don’t forget: creativity is one of CERN’s values!
4) Subscribe the team
The subscription of the team is to be done by the team leader by completing this web form on the BikeToWork website.
Please note that the e-mail address of the team leader has to be unique, because it will be used as his user name.
After subscription, the team leader will get an e-mail with the password to access the administration site. The other team members do not need to have an e-mail address; and they will not get a pass word.
Deadline for subscription is the 30th of April
During the month of April, BikeToWork will send an e-mail to each team leader with a link to the Online Campaign Calendar of his team. The team leader shall forward this e-mail to his team members so that they can enter on-line their commuting days into the calendar.
5) During the months of May and June, cycle and record your commuting days
Each team member enters online his commuting days into his personal Online Campaign Calendar by specifying for each day:
if the day was a normal working day (note: days of illness, holidays, annual leave, mission etc. are not “normal” working days!)
if the commuting for a normal working day has been done by bike (or powered by muscular strength) and how many kilometres have been done.
The link to the team’s Online Campaign Calendar is available in the e-mail the team leader has got from BikeToWork during the month of April. A password is not necessary.
Otherwise, you can register your commuting with the new BikeToWork app, that measures your distance and immediately enters the kilometres in your calendar.
Deadline for registration of commuting days is around the 5th of July (exact date will be announced).
6) Win one of the many prizes
Many individual and team prizes are available. Winners will be drawn by end of July.
All participants who have used for at least the half of the working days their bicycle for commuting, will participate in the tombola for individual prizes.
All teams whose 4 members have used for at least the half of the working days their bicycle for commuting, will participate in the tombola for team prizes.
